A device for producing a continuous train of large sparks that rise upwards. It is a fascinating depiction of the power of static electricity. A power supply creates a powerful voltage potential between two electrodes, to ionize the air between them and turn it into a plasma. The plasma is conductive, allowing an electric arc to form and complete the circuit. The sparks dance up the electrodes, carried by rising convection currents.
The Jacob’s Ladder consists of a pair of long metal electrodes, 350mm tall, connected to a high voltage power source. The electrodes are fully enclosed in a transparent PC tube 410 x 55mm (l x Ø), and the transformer in a plastic case. The base has an on/off button to start the formation of the arc. Operates on DC 15V ,with the adapter included.
